about_SecuredArcana SHORT DESCRIPTION Manages the encryption and decryption of passwords and keys stored on disk. LONG DESCRIPTION Begin by writing the password to a secure file using Write-SecuredPassword. You pass in the password, along with the path to the key file. Optionally, you can also use a "key file", which you can create using New-SecurityKeyFile. When you use a key file, you can move the encrypted files between computers and use them easily. This is ideal when you are storing passwords for things like system services. Without a key file, the encrypted credentials can only be used on the computer on which they were created. You can use one key file for all passwords, or create a key for each credential (recommended). To retrieve a credential object for use with commands such as Invoke-Command, use Get-SecuredCredential. Pass in the password file, the user name associated with it, and if used the key file. It will return a credential object. Need to get the password back from the credential in plain text? Then use ConvertFrom-SecuredCredential. Pass in the credential and it will return the password. Add the -NoClipboard switch if you do not want the password copied to the clipboard.
